Q.
Can your boat be used in place of a helicopter?
A. Yes. In some cases if it is calm water, you could get close
to the same effect for a fraction of the cost.
Q.
Can your boat travel?
A. Yes. Anywhere you want to ship it by trailer, air or sea. It
can be done!
Q.
Is there a minimum time and cost?
A. Yes. For an out of the area shoot, it is a two day minimum with
a 50% deposit required. Out of the state or Bahamas negotiable.
Q.
How many people can you put on the boat?
A. 10-12 is comfortable, but it depends on what you are doing.
More than 8 people effects speed and stability.
Q.
What makes your vessel different from the other camera boats on the water?
A. Everything! Our boat, the Flat Cat, was a custom built to be
used specifically as a camera boat, and literally every inch is usable!
The forward bow of the vessel is a low profile flat deck that accommodates
a wide variety of camera angles. Most importantly, our boat is safe and
comfortable. Our rails and legs are welded "not coupled” and it is
integrated into a large hard top that provides a shaded aft for the director
and a convenient table and seating area for the crew.
Q.
Is a “Cat” hull better than other types of hulls?
A. Yes. Cats have two hulls which make it much more stable than
a “V” hull! The hull can be trimmed so the camera operator gets no spray
on the side he or she is shooting on!
Q.
What is included in your fee?
A. The boat is delivered and set up to your location, with a captain.
You are responsible for any additional expenses such as fuel, dockage,
food, etc. Two-day minimum required with 50% deposit, unless its a local
shoot.
Q.
Do you have larger boats where cast members or models can remain during
the shoot?
A. Yes. We have a wide variety of other vessels to choose from!
Q.
Do you do location shoots or scouting?
A. Absolutely! We do everything. Marine coordination is our specialty.
Q.
How long have you guys been doing this?
A. We have been boating here for 25 years and know these waters
better than our backyard pool.
Q.
What other services do you offer?
A. Our boat can be used for private charter as well as for fishing,
diving or cruising.
Q.
How fast is the boat?
A. The boat can travel up to 45 mph depending on the weight of
its cargo. It is very efficient on gas, which keeps your overall expenses
to a minimum.
Q.
What type of on-board communications do you have?
A. We have hand-held VHF and a hard-wired intercom system for up
to four people.
